Deauville arose from Deans dreams to create a stunning presence on a notable corner block.
His brief was to build a single-storey, over-basement house blending superbly with its Beaumaris streetscape and showcasing all the latest sustainable methods.
Providing extensive outdoor living opportunities, the pool and spa were accompanied by 2 alfresco living areas inclusive of pizza oven and built-in bbq. Perfect for entertaining or unwinding and relaxing.
Together, the interior and exterior details blend together perfectly in a home that lifts your mood and perfectly fuses history, architecture and place.
The key living zones are arranged in a U-shape around an alfresco, facing north. A simpler design would have incorporated a flat roof here, but instead Dean built a vaulted roof with electronic louvred windows to harness even more natural sunlight. This home has spaces for everyone in the household; a mancave, expansive garage, gym, sauna and theatre room at basement level.
This space faces the swimming pool and spa, from where many a lazy Sunday has been spent watching the cricket from the television in the adjoining pool room.
The sophisticated energy rating measures are a standout. On the roof, the house has 76 PV panels as part of a 20kW solar system with battery backup, as well as specialised phase change material in the ceiling, to create comfortable internal conditions. A Zehnder indoor ventilation system provides energy- optimised air exchange, while the house has excellent water efficiency with two 20,000L water tanks.
